Some highlights from the 2023 UN Day Celebration:
On October 24, 1945, the United Nations was created. Every year for the month of October, UNA-USA and its 200+ chapters around the country activate in their communities by hosting events centered around a certain global issue.
This year, we’re focusing on the 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), along with the theme:
Dignity, Freedom and Justice for All
We invite you to join us as we celebrate the work of the United Nations and local leaders at our annual UN Day Celebration!
There will be delicious food, live entertainment, and great conversation.
Doors open at 4 PM. The program starts at 5 PM.

Professor Jeffrey D. Sachs
is a world-renowned economics professor, bestselling author, innovative educator, and global leader in sustainable development. He has been Special Advisor to three United Nations Secretaries-General, and currently serves as an SDG Advocate under Secretary General António Guterres.
Global Goals - Local Leader Awardees

Senator Sarah Anthony
has fought for equity and opportunity for all Michiganders throughout her 20 year career in public service. Sarah has made history multiple times, serving as mid-Michigan’s first African American woman to be elected to the MI House of Reps and MI Senate. In 2023, she became the first Black woman to chair the Senate Appropriations Committee.

State Rep. Kara Hope
is serving her 3rd term. She is the founding president of the Holt Community Arts Council and has donated her legal services to Elder Law of Michigan, the Sam Corey Senior Center Club, and the Mid-Michigan Environmental Action Council. Hope plans to fight for an increase in funding for education, MI roads & infrastructure, and increasing health care access for all.

Willye White Bryan
is the founder of the Justice League of Greater Lansing Michigan (JLGLM). The JLGLM program aims to educate and help decrease systemic and structural racism in our community.

LeRoy Harvey
serves as an Environmental Programs Coordinator for Meridian Township. He works with several community teams on energy and environmental initiatives related to energy, water, recycling, wetlands, and ecology.

This young family of singers is already into its exciting journey in the performance world. Their talent took them overseas this past summer to perform with The Czech Symphony Orchestra as featured soloists.

Jiayin Zhang- Pianist
Jiayin Zhang, a Shanghai-born pianist, is an accomplished musician who graduated with a master's degree in Collaborative Piano and Piano Pedagogy from Michigan State University, where she is currently pursuing her doctorate under the guidance of Professors Deborah Moriarty and Dr. Zhi-hua Tang. She also holds a bachelor's degree in Musicology from Shanghai Normal University. Jiayin is an experienced performer, regularly giving solo and collaborative recitals in both China and the United States, showcasing her talents in instrumental, vocal, choral, and orchestral collaborations. Jiayin's exceptional skills have earned her top honors in various competitions and opportunities to learn from renowned artists, such as Jonathan Feldman, Norman Krieger, and more.
