UN Day Celebration

For more than seven decades, UNA-USA members have advocated on behalf of the UN and its agencies. The U.S. should not—and cannot—tackle global challenges alone. Our members know that creating a blueprint for a better future can only be achieved through working in tandem with the UN.

We honored Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield, Representative of the United States of America to the United Nations. We also enjoyed good food, performances by King Isaac and the Dazzling Daisies, and presented Global Goals and Education awards. Use the link below to view the event!

International Mother Earth Day

International Mother Earth Day provides an opportunity to raise global public awareness of the challenges to the well-being of the planet and all the life it supports. The Day also recognizes a collective responsibility, as called for in the 1992 Rio Declaration, to promote harmony with nature and the Earth, to achieve a just balance among the economic, social and environmental needs of the present and future generations of humanity.

GL-UNA celebrated Earth Day by providing fun hands-on activity suitable for all ages!

  • Create a sunflower terrarium
  • Learn about the history and many uses of the sunflower.
  • Intergenerational activity: Can do with kids and grandkids
  • “Plant it Forward”
  • And More!

CO-SPONSORS

International Mother Earth Day was co-sponsored by Peace Education Center, Edgewood United Church, the Islamic Center of East Lansing, the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Ovid-Elsie Schools.
